Despite studying at one of the best ad schools in the country, James didn’t do the ad course and actually became a copywriter by accident.
Having been thoroughly underwhelmed by his brief stint in the music industry, a chance conversation regarding Led Zeppelin with BMB’s Head of Copy ended with the immortal words, “Can you start on Monday?”
Since then his career has taken him through McCann offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Prague and Berlin, JWT, Big and BD Network, picking up over 100 creative and effectiveness awards along the way.
Now, together with long-time creative partner Tim Jones, James is Creative Director of BBC Creative – the BBC’s newly-formed and much talked about advertising agency. And their ambition is simple: to be the best in the world at what they do, for the world’s best broadcaster.
